We have wood sitting on top of a rack with holes in it and a blue flame key switch outside. Previous owner burned logs in it. However, vent switch doesn’t want to move, blower blows cold air and bricks are charred and cracked. So, I know it needs inspection and work. I just would like to know if it is a wood burning or gas fireplace for safety reasons.
I purchase the huge copper fire cauldron from Smith & Hawken – it is a really deep pit with a rack that sits about 6 inches below the top lip and a retractable screen, I wasn’t sure if the logs go on top of the rack or at the bottom of the pit, if they go at the bottom of the pit then what is the rack for – it doesn’t look like something to cook on? They didn’t send instructions and I couldn’t find the answer online – any feedback would be great, I want to blaze tonight!!!
